| I believe that most of us made our first programming steps in BASIC, because it was so easy to work with. Now imagine the same easiness in BASIC programming, but this time with microcontroller programming... |

| Something new again. Its function is to control the entry of a room by unauthorized personnel and record if one is late. It looks simple. It reminds you of a button battery. If you lose it, youll never find it! You cannot even make a copy. But, it is a real thing! All these anomalies are advantages looking from the other side of the coin. In the past, simple keys were replaced by magnetic cards, which were thin and small and could be kept in a wallet... |

| The memory area of Intels 8051 is divided in two blocks each of 64KB. The signal PSEN enables access to external ROM, i.e. EPROM. The signals RD and WR enable reading and writing from an external RAM. In this way it is not only possible to address 64KB of ROM and 64KB of RAM memory, it is also possible to overlap ROM and RAM... |

| This project is a light dimmer. It regulates the intensity of a standard bulb. This is an illustration of how we can use microcontrollers to control the current to a globe. In this article you can also find out how to connect a microcontroller to an AC power line, and to a triac. The same thing can be done using a triac, diac, and a few resistors and capacitors. There are numbers of electrical schematics available on the net, describing how to do this. My unit is powered directly from an AC line. Powering from the line enables the microcontroller to directly trigger a triac (for example - triggering without an opto-triac) and show how to generate the necessary program for the microcontroller. |

| Pulse counters are widely present in everyday life and it is hard to imagine that one day people will stop using them. Almost every museum counts visitors, as well as theaters, shopping centers, department stores, fast-food restaurants and many others. In industry each production control includes counting. In addition, market tests are performed by counting sold goods. In sports, the quality of a game is shown by attendance. There are occasions when not only physical values are counted, but many other measurements: phone pulses, time, revolutions, liquids, etc. etc.... |

| Even though sound has many advantages; until recently a connection between a machine and a human was mainly established by light indicators. Sound only draw ones attention and in rare occasions to carry information. In other words, sound was used to signal that something happened, but not for what happened. The reason is obvious: to make a simple, ambiguous and cheap sound indicator was not easy. Until recently, when we met ISD circuits |

| In modern
telecommunications spread spectrum methods are widely present. It doesn't
matter if we use a frequency hopping method, direct sequence method or time
hopping method, these aspects have a lot in common: · Excellent signal/noise ratio, · Efficient usage of radio spectrum, · High immunity to jamming and minimized danger of 'listening'. Fast development of microcontrollers provides usage of these devices in modern telecommunications. This article is to present the simplicity of a transceiver based on the spread spectrum method of frequency hopping... |

| A wide range
of opportunities has opened in the field of digitally controlled systems.
Digitally measured information can be rapidly processed and complex systems
are easily controlled. The diversity of controlling software allows more creativity. A new approach in controlling was introduced, using fuzzy regulators. Anyone familiar with this process can easily implement a solution, by simply writing and changing the program code... |

| Flexibility is a characteristic in their favor - showed to be warmly welcomed. We find them all around us, from toys to the most complex uses in industry. |

| Highly integrated wireless solutions continue to increase in demand, as silicon providers respond with a broad array of intellectual property, increasingly dense technologies, and an industry-wide focus on System-On-Chip (SOC) design tools and integration methodologies. |

| Distribution channel customers designing high-performance, cost- and power-sensitive applications, such as vending machines, building management and heating-ventilation-air conditioning (HVAC) systems, exercise equipment and lighting control need highly integrated microcontrollers off-the-shelf, to reduce system component count and fit their product requirements. |

| This competition
was organized by TI together with other sponsors. The prize money totaled
$60.000. First prize was $5.000. Many of the rewards were components, software,
books and development tools. This article describes my project, sent to TI for the competition. I have also provided two files, sch and pcb. You can download them at the bottom of the article... |

| Magdalene is a code name for a robotic hand, which is being developed in our offices at the moment. The name - it just happened that some of us spelled it out...and here comes Magdalene... |

| The Positron Brain from the Isaac Asimov's SF novels - is still SF, but there is a simple fact coming out of this. We all are surrounded by a large number of "devices" whose "behavior" is fairly complicated and demands "constant monitoring of the outside world, and answering to its impulses"... |

| The exponential growth of the wireless communications industry has created a multitude of new products with advanced features that allow users to stay in touch with every aspect of their lives wherever they may be. |
